- ALBERTO CAMPO BAEZA
“Light is the most luxurious material there is, but since it is free, we do not value it”
Alberto Campo Baeza
Alberto Campo Baeza is an architect who was born in Valladolid, in 1946. When he was two years old, he moved to Cadiz and he spent all his youth there. During his life he has had a lot of influence from his grandparent, because he was an architect.
In 1971, he became an architect, graduated in “la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid” (ETSAM). Then, he has been teaching during many years in a lot of places around the world, counting his 30 years being a professor of projects in the ETSAM.
Simultaneously, he has been giving lectures in lots of countries, as well as he has written some books during his laboral life. All his books have been picked up in a single book published by Thames & Hudson, and some of them have been translated into a lot of languages.
Taking everything into consideration, here are some of his buildings I like the most:
In my opinion, all the buildings designed by Alberto Campo Baeza can be identified as minimalist architecture and I claim that all of them are special because thay show a different perspective of that branch of architecture, since he has the principal focus on light. The sensation of peace that all his creations give to our society, for me, is the point that has made him achive all his acknowledgment.
